Meet the Great and Talented Instructors that teach at D&L Art Glass Supply® Cathy Claycomb: Nationally recognized for her self-developed copper foil-overlay techniques, Cathy developed her unique style of copper foil "sculpture" in an effort to bring more realism to her stained glass work. Her art is in galleries and private collections in the U.S. and abroad. She has been featured in multiple glass industry magazines, and is the author of a video that describes her copper foil overlay soldering techniques. She lectures and teaches a variety of classes across the country. Erinn Diekman: Erinn Diekman is an artist with a passion for glass. As a graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Fine Art and Art Education and a licensed Art Educator in the state of Colorado, she loves to share her art glass knowledge and enthusiasm with all learners. Erinn has taught both adults and children in traditional classrooms as well non-traditional arenas. She is constantly expanding her knowledge of art glass by learning from renowned master artists in the field in addition to experimenting and researching the boundaries of her own style. She began her art glass apprenticeship in a stained glass professional studio and continues to build upon her art glass knowledge by working with D&L Art Glass. Erinn teaches at the D&L Art Glass “Learning Center” on a regular basis. Erinn’s art is found in galleries and private residences across the country. Michael Dupille: Seattle resident Michael Dupille has worked in art his entire career, as a creator, consultant and educator. Experienced in a variety of media including animation, illustration, print, and textile design, he continues to challenge himself through invention and innovation. Since the late 1980's he has worked exclusively with glass, having developed and refined a technique for 'painting with glass', using crushed glass in combination with kiln fired methods. Michael is recognized as a pioneer in the field of kiln formed glass, especially in the area of mold making and kiln casting. He is the creator of Castalot--a reusable glass casting mold material. He has done design work for Bullseye Glass, was a guest artist and instructor at The Camp Colton Glass program, and his creative input is well featured in Boyce Lundstrom’s books on art glass techniques. He has also been a guest studio artist at the Uroboros Glass Factory. Robin Grabowski: Robin has been working in the glass medium since 1971 and teaching since 1978. She continues to find new and different ways to see her art. Her residence/studio is on 400 acres in the foothills above Lyons, Colorado with horses, cats and dogs that are a constant inspiration. Her work can be viewed at Boulder Arts & Crafts Gallery and at www.glassponydesigns.com Patty Gray: As an art student in college working primarily in clay, Patty was introduced to glass blowing in 1973. She and her husband built their first glass blowing studio in 1975 and Patty started fusing in the early 80’s. Together they have produced architectural fused/cast glasswork for installations in major hotels, public buildings and private residences as well as a body of personal work. Petra and Wolfgang Kaiser: Petra Kaiser is the author of the popular books, Introduction to Glass Fusing and Fuse It, published by Wardell Publications, Inc. She and her husband, Wolfgang, have specialized in glass fusing since they moved to the US from Germany over 15 years ago. Petra's creative focus is on kiln-worked-glass. Wolfgang is an experienced entrepreneur and a 'tool wizard' fabricator. The Kaisers discovered the specialized fiberboard, (now known as Kaiser Lee Board) in Europe and quickly recognized its benefits and its application to fused glass art. Petra & Wolfgang constantly experiment with cutting-edge techniques and designs in their Florida Studio. Petra and Wolfgang can also be found teaching all over the US, and in Japan and Mexico. Kent Lauer: Kent has been working with glass for more than 30 years. What started with a fascination with glass soon became a career. Kent learned to bevel early in his art glass career, and was determined to find out everything he could about pushing the limits of beveled glass. His work has since been seen worldwide, in important homes and historic buildings. Peter McGrain: Peter is a contributing writer for GLASS ART and GLASS CRAFTSMAN magazines and frequently travels, offering visiting artist workshops. He currently maintains an independent studio in Washington state where he creates his own experimental work as well as architectural commissions for his clients throughout the US and abroad. Jayne Persico: Jayne has worked in stained glass, kiln formed glass and hot glass for more than twenty-five years and has been a popular workshop speaker for over a decade. She is widely known for her glass design and groundbreaking finishing techniques, particularly in bracelets and watches. As innovator of the kiln formed bracelet technique and her trademarked glass embossing system, Jayne has also developed the precision tools that support these procedures. She is the author of several books, and has produced six instructional videos on fusing, glass & wire jewelry designs and kiln forming. Milon Townsend: Townsend is a self-taught artist with over 30 years experience in his field. His 10 year study of dancers in New York City had a profound influence on his style, leading to the clean lines and focus on motion that he has become known for. His background in classical music was instrumental in developing the preference for structure and form that permeates his work today. A master flameworker, Townsend uses a variety of traditional and modern techniques--including methods that he has developed--to create the sculptures that appear in his mind. Townsend is the author of six books, which include technical instruction manuals, marketing guidelines and insight for artists, and contemplative philosophical volumes. He is currently writing his next three books, and writes columns for 3 periodicals. He has also produced a series of eight videos, which demonstrate the techniques he has developed.
